The WPA/WEACT weather camera is back in action!
One of the belts that drives the rotation of our weather camera was damaged. Not surprising as it has been rotating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for the past 4 years. As a result, it was stuck in one position for the past several months.
In coordination with Watsonville Airport staff, and volunteers from the WPA and WEACT, we unmounted it, took it apart, replaced the belt, ground tested it and got it back in service. Hopefully it won't need a "top overhaul" again for another 4 years.
Big thanks to Nicholas Hernandez from the Watsonville Airport, Barry Porter and Ryan Ramirez from the WPA, and Bob Wiser from WEACT for all your help!
