Join the WPA on Thursday evening, June 18th for our first members' meeting in 2020. It's time to reconnect with our local pilot community! Our March meeting had been cancelled due to the Covid19 shelter-in-place directive, but we are back with an online meeting using Zoom. Our guest speaker will be Mike Henniger, an official photographer for the Reno Air Races. He will be sharing photos and stories from the 2019 races. Don't miss it!

All members meetings have always been open to the public and we will continue that tradition online.

If there is something you would like us to consider adding to the agenda for the meeting, please send an email to mail@watsonvillepilots.org

RSVP via the button below. This will help us gauge headcount for the event. Thank you!

About our guest speaker...

Mike Henniger is actually from Canada.  His degree says he is an electrical engineer, but he works in software, with experience in the defense industry on projects like the NATO AWACS.  Although not a pilot he does have some tangential experience in the aviation industry.  In his spare time he is an aviation history buff and runs the website www.AerialVisuals.ca.  Photographing vintage aircraft at airshows is his thing, and next to his much loved Catherine, this is what he lives for.  Then there is Reno in September.  We are not talking about the resorts and casinos, we are taking about the desert and pylons up at Stead.  We are talking about the air races.  For the last decade Mike has been photographing the National Championship Air Races at Reno-Stead.  For an aviation photographer there is no greater challenge than to use the privilege to go out to the pylons to photograph racers flying by at close range anywhere from 200 to 500 miles per hour.  For a photographer it is a rush.  Mike will try to share that high with you by showing you a selection of his photos from the pylons from the recent races, and try to give you an appreciation what it is like to see the races from the pylons.  See you there!
